Tom Middleton is a pioneer of the electronic music scene with previous roles as an orchestral cellist, producer, remixer and DJ. As a musician Tom founded the seminal electronic group Global Communication and has worked with or supported artists including Aphex Twin, Prince, Coldplay, Lady Gaga, Kanye West and Mark Ronson. He is currently making waves as a sound architect and psychoacoustics sound designer and researcher.
He has recently set up the SONUX Sound Architecture agency and embarked on a new mission to help rescore the soundtrack to life, addressing universal human needs such as mental and physical health, better sleep quality, stress and anxiety management, focus in the workplace for increased productivity and optimised soundtracks for relaxation, health and fitness practice. Using the latest evidence based research to design bespoke psychoacoustic soundscapes is integral to this innovative scientific approach to playlist curation.
He has also trained as a Sleep Science Coach and recently released the world’s first psychoacoustics research based pre-sleep album entitled Sleep Better. Using sophisticated neuro-modulation techniques and psycho-emotional cues can help activate the parasympathetic nervous system and relaxation response by reducing heart and breath rate and lowering blood pressure. His mission is simply to help make the world sound better for us to live longer, be happier and work better.
